Space Planning
While working on our space planning project I learned a great deal of things. The correct way to draw out a space planning and the steps in doing so. The wide variety of furniture that you must go through and think about while choosing a suitable piece for your client. Finding a layout that will work with what your clients expectations and wants. After learning these things I have a much better idea of the process a designer must go through to create a space planning and I am looking forward to learning what other steps there is to making a excellent space plan.
While drawing out the space plan it is very important to measure everything out accurately. You do not show the correct size or proportions it can be very miss leading to the client. It is also important and very helpful to draw some detail into your drawing. For example when drawing a couch you can draw lines indicating how many cushions the couch has. You can also show if the couch is rounded or has arm rests. These thing are all important when showing a space plan to your client. While drawing out your space plan you can also be sure that there is enough room for the furniture in the space that is provided. You would not want to decide on a couch or counter that will not fit in the area given.
While picking furniture that meets the wants of your client you must also keep in mind what the client needs. Earlier on on the class we learned about the many different types of office chairs there is. There is different sizes. adjustable height, synchro-tilt, back angle, tilt lock, tilt tension, seat tilt, and center tilt. While choosing all of these different types of office chair you must also pick one that is aesthetically pleasing while meeting requirements for comfort.
A interior designer does much more that design a space but they must make sure the space is comfortable to the clients. Through many steps they can achieve this goal and make a beautiful space.
